As President & CEO of Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Andrea leads preservation initiatives focused on protecting historic African American burial grounds and preserving community heritage.
Rooted in a family tradition spanning four generations, Andrea's work is guided by the values of service, hospitality, stewardship, and excellence.

The Original Cake Lady of Crystal River
(May 5, 1886 - October 5, 1987)
Known throughout the community as the original "Cake Lady" of Crystal River, Mary Gray Bunch built a reputation for bringing people together through hospitality, generosity, and exceptional baking. Her kitchen was a place where celebrations were marked, relationships were strengthened, and traditions were passed from one generation to the next.

Community Leader & Church Clerk
( January 20, 1922 - January 31, 2010 )
A respected community leader and dedicated servant, Annie M. McCray faithfully served as Church Clerk of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church for more than fifty years. She taught in the Citrus County Schools for 45 years. Her life reflected a deep commitment to faith, integrity, service, and the preservation of family and community history.

Matriarch, Mentor & Keeper of Family Traditions
(December 12, 1945 - July 4, 2007)
A woman known for her strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to family, Theola McCray exemplified the values of hard work, perseverance, and excellence. She taught by example that leadership is not defined by titles, but by service to others and a commitment to doing things well.

Today, Andrea carries their legacy forward through leadership, stewardship, and service. Whether guiding strategic initiatives, preserving historic places, fostering community partnerships, or crafting exceptional culinary experiences, her work reflects the enduring values passed down through generations.
Inspired by the example of Mary Gray Bunch, Annie M. McCray, and Theola Bunch McCray, Andrea remains committed to excellence, intentionality and the belief that true legacy is found not only in what we inherit, but in what we preserve, create, and pass forward.

As President and CEO of Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Andrea leads ongoing efforts to preserve one of Citrus County's most significant historic African American cemeteries. Established in 1884, the cemetery serves as a sacred resting place and an enduring connection to the community's history, heritage, and legacy.
Working in partnership with the Florida Division of Historical Resources and preservation professionals across the state, Andrea oversees complex preservation projects focused on protecting historic resources, improving stewardship, and ensuring long-term sustainability for future generations.
Following the discovery of previously undocumented burial locations, Andrea is leading a comprehensive Ground Penetrating Radar Survey initiative to identify and protect unmarked graves. This work combines science, archaeology, preservation planning, and community engagement to guide responsible stewardship of a historic cultural resource.
Meaningful preservation requires collaboration. Andrea works alongside historians, archaeologists, engineers, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and community volunteers to advance projects that strengthen communities while honoring the past.
Andrea is a frequent advocate for historic preservation, community leadership, and legacy stewardship. Through presentations, conferences, public programs, and community initiatives, she shares lessons learned from preservation projects and encourages others to become active participants in protecting local history.
